What the brands make

  • Bosch Power Tools sells power tools, garden tools, accessories and measuring technology to trades and DIY users, under the brands Bosch and Dremel.[3]
  • Hilti serves the construction industry with hardware, software and services; its Nuron cordless platform runs on a single battery system.[4][23]
  • Stihl makes power tools for forestry, agriculture, gardens and landscaping.[6]
  • Metabo led the creation of the CAS battery alliance: 18 volt tools from about 40 manufacturers share one battery pack.[11]
  • Bahco is best known for hand tools such as adjustable wrenches and saws, so it fits this page only loosely.[12]
  • Scheppach focuses on woodworking machines and also sells compressors, generators and garden tools.[24][15]
  • Einhell builds DIY and garden tools around its 18 volt Power X-Change battery, which fits more than 350 tools.[17]
  • Festool lists saws, dust extractors, sanders, routers and drills for professionals.[20]
  • Cecotec is first of all a household appliance brand, known for its Conga robot vacuum, but it also sells a DIY range with drills, sanders and saws.[22][25]

Good to know

Two brands are European companies under non-European ownership: Metabo belongs to Koki Holdings in Japan, which KKR of the USA acquired in 2017[10][11], and Bahco belongs to Snap-on of the USA.[13] Both carry the non-European parent flag on their product pages.

Cordless tools are only compatible within a battery system. Einhell Power X-Change, Hilti Nuron and Metabo CAS are separate platforms, so check the voltage and the system before you buy a second tool.
