Anytype
WebsiteAnytype is a local-first note-taking and knowledge app from Any Association, a Swiss association with its registered office in Zug. Notes, tasks, databases and chats are stored on the user's own device and encrypted end to end. Devices sync with each other, and backups can be self-hosted.
Features
- Block-based editor with templates, widgets and a graph view
- Databases with table, kanban and gallery views
- Offline-first use, with peer-to-peer sync in local networks
- Apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android
- Encryption keys that only the user holds
- Self-hosting of backups on the user's own infrastructure
- Anytype for Business as a separate offering for teams
Plans and limits
The free plan includes 100 MB of remote storage, 10 shared channels and unlimited private channels, and paid memberships add more. The code is published under the Any Source Available License 1.0. That is source available, not open source in the sense of the Open Source Initiative, so the product is not flagged as open source here. Anytype stores notes as objects in its own data model rather than as plain Markdown files, which matters for anyone who wants to open the same notes in other editors.
