Auping

Auping (Koninklijke Auping) is a Dutch bed manufacturer from Deventer. In 1888 the blacksmith Johannes Auping opened a smithy there and went on to design a ventilated hospital bed on commission. Today the company employs more than 300 people, produces in Deventer and describes itself as market leader for beds and mattresses in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Range

• Beds, box springs, mattresses and toppers, made to measure and largely by hand according to the company
• Circular mattresses such as Auping Evolve, with a digital product passport for the supply chain
• A mattress factory in Deventer that opened in February 2024 and that Auping calls the mattress factory of the future

Ownership

In 2017 the Dutch investment company Wadinko took over the stake that NPM Capital had held since 1986. The CEO still describes Auping as a family business from Deventer. Its core markets are the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, and its beds sit in the premium segment.
