The BBC says it reaches around 450 million people per week, and the World Service reaches 320 million of them.
Features
- News website and app at bbc.com/news with live pages, analysis and video.
- BBC World Service in English and 27 other languages.
- Coverage of the UK, Europe and the world, with correspondents on every continent.
- Radio and television channels, podcasts and on-demand programmes.
Model and limits
Reading the website is free of charge, and for international readers the pages carry advertising. In the UK the licence fee funds the service. The BBC's editorial independence is defined by its charter, but it is also regularly criticised from different political directions. Its main focus is the UK, even in the international edition.
