Bear

Bear is a Markdown note-taking app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, made by Shiny Frog Ltd. The company is registered in Ireland and was founded by three developer-designers in Parma, Italy. Its team is spread across Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Germany, the UK and Japan.

Features

• Notes with text, photos, tables and to-do lists, formatted in Markdown
• Tags with over 250 icons for organising notes and projects
• Note encryption and support for Apple's Advanced Data Protection
• Document scanning and export to TXT, Markdown, TextBundle and RTF
• Bear Pro adds iCloud sync, export to PDF, JPG, HTML, DOCX and ePub, more themes and search inside PDFs and images

Price and limits

The free version keeps notes locally. Bear Pro costs USD 2.99 per month or USD 29.99 per year after a 7-day trial. Bear runs only on Apple devices and relies on iCloud for sync, so it does not suit setups with Windows or Android devices.
