  • Payments in online shops of participating merchants
  • Money requests, so one person can ask others to pay their share
  • No separate wallet, the money moves between bank accounts
  • Interoperability with other European payment solutions through the European Network for Payments (see below)

Ownership and limitations

Bizum, S.L. is owned by 22 Spanish credit institutions that together represent about 96 percent of the Spanish market. Use requires an account at a participating Spanish bank. In September 2026 Bizum, SIBS (MB WAY), Bancomat, Vipps MobilePay and the Wero operator EPI created the European Network for Payments, based in Madrid, to connect their solutions across borders step by step, starting with person-to-person payments. Wero is listed in the same category.
