Bordallo Pinheiro
WebsiteBordallo Pinheiro is a Portuguese ceramics brand from Caldas da Rainha. The caricaturist and artist Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro founded the faience factory in 1884, and the company still makes its pieces there. Since 2009 it has belonged to the Portuguese Visabeira Group.
Products
The range covers tableware such as plates, bowls, tureens and platters, as well as jugs and decorative pieces. Many items are organised in collections modelled on plants and animals, for example cabbage, pumpkin, artichoke, lemon, strawberry, sardine and swallow. The company says its pieces come from the careful work of its own craftspeople, and it sells through its own online shop and retail partners.
Background
The founder set up the factory in Caldas da Rainha as a producer of glazed earthenware and put his humour and creativity into the brand, according to the company. The Visabeira Group, a Portuguese group, has owned the brand since 2009, and the website offers an online shop with prices in euros, including a catalogue of pieces such as tureens and jugs.
