Cadbury

Website

Cadbury is a British chocolate brand. John Cadbury opened a grocery shop in Bull Street, Birmingham, in 1824 and sold cocoa and drinking chocolate among other goods.[1] Today the range includes Cadbury Dairy Milk, Flake, Wispa, Twirl, Creme Egg and Bournville drinking chocolate, and the brand is sold in more than 30 countries.[2]

Ownership

Cadbury has been part of Kraft Foods since 2010. Kraft created the division Mondelez International in 2012, and Cadbury still belongs to it.[1] Because the parent company is not European, Cadbury carries the non-European parent flag on this site. Milka is a brand of the same group,[2] so Cadbury is not an independent alternative to it.

History

In 1866 Cadbury launched Cocoa Essence, advertised as "Absolutely Pure, Therefore Best".[1] The Bournville factory south of Birmingham followed, where building began in January 1879.[1] In 2008 the company started the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership to support cocoa farmers in Ghana, India, Indonesia and the Caribbean.[2]
