Carlsberg

Carlsberg Group is a Danish brewing company with headquarters in Copenhagen. It was established in 1847 by the brewer J.C. Jacobsen, who brewed the first Carlsberg beers in Copenhagen that year. According to the company it has more than 37,000 employees and is present in more than 150 markets.

Brands and range

• Carlsberg and Tuborg: the two Danish core brands, which merged their breweries in 1970
• 1664 (Kronenbourg): a French brand in the portfolio
• Grimbergen: an abbey beer brand
• Somersby: cider
• Brooklyn: a US craft brand, plus alcohol-free brews and soft drinks

The company states that its portfolio contains about 180 brands.

Ownership

Carlsberg A/S is a listed company. Its largest shareholder is the Carlsberg Foundation, founded by J.C. Jacobsen in 1876, which holds about 30 percent of the capital and 78 percent of the votes and must keep at least 51 percent of the votes under its charter.
