Website

Donkervoort is a Dutch family owned sports car maker founded by Joop Donkervoort in 1978. It builds low volume performance cars at its site in Lelystad. It reports approximately 1,700 hand built cars and more than 50 specialists, a substantial record for a niche manufacturer.

A family company with a long history

The first Donkervoort was created around the idea of a light sports car with direct driver feedback. The company remains owned by the Donkervoort family and is now led by Joop’s son Denis. Its model archive traces successive generations from the original S7 through the D8, F22 and current P24 RS.

Lightweight engineering

Weight reduction and mechanical feedback are recurring design priorities. The F22 used a carbon fibre and tubular structure, a removable Twin Targa roof and active dampers. Donkervoort reports that this model weighs about 750 kilograms and uses a turbocharged five cylinder engine producing 500 horsepower.

The current P24 RS

The P24 RS is the newest model in the range. It has a 3.5 litre V6 with selectable 400, 500 or 600 horsepower settings, plus a removable carbon fibre roof section. The company lists adjustable suspension options and a highly configurable interior and exterior specification.

Built around the driver

Donkervoort offers one to one specification choices and supports owners of earlier cars with continued service and customization. The cars are aimed at experienced drivers seeking a road and track focused sports car with a light structure and close mechanical connection, rather than a high volume luxury vehicle.
