HAY

HAY is a Danish design brand for furniture and home accessories, founded in Copenhagen in 2002 by Troels Holch Povlsen and Rolf and Mette Hay. It develops modern, affordable design and sells through its own stores, online and through retailers. The management team works from headquarters in Denmark.

Ownership

The US group Herman Miller, today MillerKnoll, bought a 33 percent stake in 2018 and agreed in 2019 to raise it to a majority 67 percent, while the founders stayed on as minority owners. HAY is therefore flagged as having a non-European parent. Management and product development remain in Denmark, and HAY goods are also sold through MillerKnoll channels such as Design Within Reach.
