L’Erbolario
WebsiteL’Erbolario is an Italian botanical cosmetics company founded in Lodi in 1978 by Daniela Villa and Franco Bergamaschi. What began as a small herbalist’s shop grew into a family run brand that still draws on plants, flowers, fruit and woods for its cosmetics and perfumes. The company says all stages of production remain in Italy.
From herbalist shop to cosmetics maker
The founders first gathered wild herbs around Lodi and used traditional recipes for lotions, infusions and other preparations. L’Erbolario developed that interest into a business focused on phytocosmetics. Its history page describes the company as family run and rooted in the local area.
Botanical ingredients and research
The company grows medicinal plants in its botanical garden and processes them into extracts and distilled waters. Its extract laboratory supplies ingredients for products developed by its research and development laboratory. This internal work connects plant material with formulations for face, body and hair care.
Products for skin and fragrance
The assortment includes face and body creams, shower gels, shampoos, perfumes and related personal care products. It draws on distinct botanical themes, with product families organized around ingredients such as calendula, lavender, rosemary and fruit. The international shop presents both individual products and coordinated scented lines.
Italian production and distribution
L’Erbolario reports 4,500 points of sale in Italy, 215 branded stores and distribution in 42 countries, using figures dated 31 December 2025. The company became a Benefit Corporation in 2021.
