Motel One

Motel One is a budget design hotel chain headquartered in Munich. Dieter Müller and Philippe Weyland founded it in 2000. According to the company page it runs 111 hotels with about 30,000 rooms in 14 countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Spain, France, the USA, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Portugal.

Ownership and limits

Motel One is not listed on the stock exchange. Reuters reported in April 2024 that the founder Dieter Müller took back control after Proprium Capital sold its stake. The rooms are small and have no minibar or room service, and the chain has no resorts.
