Président

Président is a French dairy and cheese brand of Groupe Lactalis, headquartered in Laval, Mayenne. The company grew out of the cheese business André Besnier started in Laval in 1933, and the Président brand was launched in 1968. Président cheeses are sold in many countries and are especially known for Brie and Camembert.

Ownership and positioning

Lactalis is owned by the Besnier family and has its seat in Laval, so the brand counts as European without a foreign parent. Président is an industrial supermarket brand with consistent quality and wide availability, not a small artisanal producer. The same group also owns Galbani, Leerdammer and other cheese brands.
