Proper Snacks

Website

Proper Snacks is a British snack company, designed in London and made in Nuneaton. It was formed in 2021 when the Proper brand, started in 2011 by Cassandra Stavrou under the name Propercorn, joined with the lentil chip brand Eat Real. London private equity firm Exponent holds a majority stake.

Products

  • Popcorn and crisps under the Proper name
  • Lentil chips and other pulse snacks under Eat Real
  • Sold in major UK supermarkets

The company is a certified B Corp and describes itself as the first B Corp snacks brand in the UK. Eat Real goes back to a family snack business that moved from Nairobi to the UK in 1974. The Grocer reported sales of £70.7m for 2024.

Production in Nuneaton gave the company a new factory in recent years, which The Grocer links to sales recovering after a difficult period. The two brands now share one company and one team.
