Website

Prusa Research is a Czech 3D printing company founded by Josef Prusa in 2012 and based in Prague. Its range spans Original Prusa printers, printing software, materials and accessories. The company grew from Prusa's work with RepRap, an open source project for sharing and improving 3D printer designs.

From RepRap to Prague

Josef Prusa joined RepRap as a student before founding the company. Its Prusa i3 design became widely used as an open project. The company says it develops printers and software and makes them at its Prague base.

Printers for filament and resin

The catalog includes CORE One+, MK4S and MINI+ filament printers, the XL multi toolhead system and SL1S SPEED resin printer. This spans FFF printing with filament and MSLA printing with resin. Model capacity and workflow differ, so selection depends on part size and material.

Software, materials and models

PrusaSlicer prepares printable files and includes profiles for Prusa machines. Prusament is the company's in-house filament and resin range, with online production reports for spools. Printables offers community shared models and project files.

Open source and maintenance

Prusa describes open source and community work as part of its roots. For the MK4S it publishes firmware and software source code and points to internal part access for maintenance or modification. File availability and licenses vary by product.

From workshops to research

Prusa cites hobbyists, companies, universities and research institutions among its users. Its own print farm makes parts for new printers. This links the range to personal workshops, prototyping and small production.
