RIU Hotels & Resorts is a Spanish hotel group from Mallorca that has been run by the Riu family since 1953. According to the company, it operates more than 100 hotels in 23 destinations. RIU is known mainly for all-inclusive beach holidays, and the group also runs hotels in cities.

Ownership and limits

The management company RIUSA II, founded in 1993, is owned 50 percent by the tour operator TUI and 50 percent by the Riu family. In 2021 TUI sold its 49 percent stake in the real estate company RIU Hotels S.A. to the family. Many travellers book RIU hotels in TUI packages, so prices there can differ from the hotels' own site.
