Ryanair

Website

Ryanair is the largest low-cost airline in Europe. The group, Ryanair Holdings plc, is Irish and based in Dublin. According to its corporate website it connects more than 220 airports in 35 countries with a fleet of almost 650 aircraft. The group also includes Buzz, Lauda Europe and Malta Air.

Features

  • Very low base fares on point-to-point routes across Europe and to North Africa
  • Bases at many secondary airports as well as major cities
  • Extras such as checked bags, seat selection and priority boarding are optional
  • Ryanair app for check-in and boarding passes

Limits

The low base fare is only part of the price: baggage, seat selection and airport check-in can be charged, and cabin baggage rules are strict. Many airports are far from the cities they are named after, and there is no alliance, so missed connections are not rebooked across airlines.
