Website

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) is the leading airline of Scandinavia, with main hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. It joined the SkyTeam alliance in September 2024. SAS flies to more than 125 destinations in Europe, the US, Africa and Asia, according to its own company page.

Features

  • Hubs in three capitals with good transfer options inside Scandinavia
  • EuroBonus loyalty programme with benefits across SkyTeam partners
  • Intercontinental routes to the US and Asia in addition to the European network
  • Cabin classes SAS Go, Plus and Business on European and long-haul routes

Ownership and limits

The US investor Castlelake holds 32 percent of SAS, the Danish state 26.4 percent and Air France-KLM 19.9 percent. Air France-KLM has announced that it wants to raise its stake to 60.5 percent, subject to regulatory approval. Until then SAS has no majority owner outside Europe. Fares are above low-cost levels, and the network is smaller than that of the big continental groups.
