Swish

Swish is the Swedish mobile payment service operated by Getswish AB in Stockholm. It was launched on 12 December 2012 as a way to pay between private individuals and now has more than 8 million users. Swish moves money directly between bank accounts within seconds, without a card network in between, and has become the default way to pay friends, clubs and many small businesses in Sweden.

Ownership and limitations

Getswish AB is owned by Danske Bank, Handelsbanken, Länsförsäkringar, Nordea, SEB, Swedbank and the savings banks (Sparbankerna). Swish works with bank accounts at participating Swedish banks and is aimed at the Swedish market. Outside Sweden it is not a general alternative to Visa or Mastercard.
