Univention Nubus
WebsiteNubus is the open-source identity and access management solution of Univention GmbH in Bremen, Germany. Univention has built open-source software for identity management and application integration since 2002 and says its products are used by more than 14,000 organisations. Nubus is published under the GNU AGPLv3. It runs on Kubernetes or, as the long-standing Univention Corporate Server (UCS), as a virtual machine.
Features
- Central directory of users, groups and devices with user lifecycle management
- Single sign-on and access management for web applications and services
- Portal where users reach their applications, with self-service functions
- Open interfaces and ready integrations, including Active Directory, positioned as an alternative to Microsoft AD
- Particularly widespread in schools, administrations and organisations with data sovereignty requirements
Fit and limits
Nubus is built for organisations that manage employees, pupils or members and want to replace a Microsoft directory. It is not designed as a consumer login service with millions of self-registering customers; for that, cidaas or Nevis fit better. Running it requires Kubernetes or Linux administration skills, or a Univention partner.
