Website

Vivlio is a French digital reading company based in Lyon. It offers e-readers, ebook services and reading apps, working with bookstores and publishing partners. A connected digital library is also available on phones, tablets and the web.

Roots in bookselling

The business began in 2011 in Lyon as TEA, founded by a bookseller who wanted to build a European digital reading alternative that respected the book trade. Vivlio names Cultura as an early partner in 2013 and reports over 1,000 sales locations and 500,000 readers across Europe.

E-readers for focused reading

Vivlio sells compact e-readers with matte E Ink screens, designed for reading rather than general tablet use. The company describes the screen as easy on the eyes and readable in direct sunlight. Its product family includes models such as the Light HD Color, which uses a colour E Ink display for book covers and illustrated content.

One library across devices

Vivlio’s apps let readers manage their library and continue a book on a smartphone, tablet or web browser. The service supports ebooks and audiobooks, while the company’s site presents a reading history that can sync across devices. This can suit readers who use a dedicated e-reader at home and a phone while travelling.

Bookshop and professional tools

Vivlio works with booksellers in France and other European markets, including Cultura, Decitre, Leclerc and Casa del Libro. The company also offers services to publishers, libraries and retailers, including ebook distribution and digital reading technology. Its model is built around bringing online catalogues and reading tools into existing bookshop relationships.
