WeSendit
WebsiteWeSendit is a file transfer service from Zug, Switzerland, run by WeSendit Media AG. The service emerged from a master's thesis in 2013 that aimed at a very fast, open-source way to send large files, and it won second place at the Swiss Innovation Award in 2014. The company WeSendit Media AG was founded in 2018.
Features
- Large transfers: up to 129.1 GB per transfer, as a guest transfer without an account and with a retention of 7 days, according to the WeSendit file sharing page.
- File management: since 2022 files can also be organised, versioned and archived, not only sent.
- Decentralised storage and token: since 2023 WeSendit has built an ecosystem around a utility token (WSI) and decentralised storage on independent nodes.
Things to check
The transfer page does not state where files are stored or how they are encrypted, so check the privacy policy before sending confidential files. The token and storage network are optional extras and not needed for simple transfers. For files that must stay private from the provider, an end-to-end encrypted tool such as Tresorit is the better fit. Transfer limits can change, so confirm the current ones on the WeSendit site.
