Zendium
WebsiteZendium is a toothpaste brand of Unilever, the consumer goods group headquartered in London. According to Unilever, the formula goes back to research by the microbiologist Henk Hoogendoorn, who started studying in 1969 how the mouth protects teeth and gums on its own. Zendium was introduced in the Netherlands in 1979, and the brand is now sold in several European countries.
Features
- Toothpastes with natural enzymes and proteins instead of a conventional formula
- Fluoride toothpaste without the foaming agent SLS (the Dutch Unilever page states 0 percent SLS)
- According to Unilever, 93 percent of the ingredients are of natural origin
- Tubes made with more than 60 percent plant-based plastic, as the brand states on its Dutch site
Good to know
The brand makes its own claims about the oral microbiome, which are not assessed here. Zendium is owned by a large listed group, so it is not an independent family brand. It belongs on this page because Unilever is based in the United Kingdom.
