Incontinence products are a large category in Europe, shaped by ageing populations and by hygiene groups with a long history in absorbent products. This page lists incontinence brands whose companies have their headquarters in Europe: pads, pants and skin care for bladder weakness, sold to private buyers, carers and care facilities.

How the brands differ

TENA and MoliCare are the two largest names and both belong to big groups. Seni is made by TZMO, which also makes the Bella brand listed under sanitary pads and tampons. ABENA is a Danish family company that produces incontinence products itself and sells a large share to care facilities and distributors. The same makers often sell baby products as well, for example ABENA with Bambo, which appears under diapers.

What to check before buying

Incontinence products come in different absorbency levels and cuts: small pads for light leaks, absorbent underwear for mobile users and all-in-one systems for night time or nursing care. The right choice depends on the person, and a pharmacist, doctor or continence adviser can help with it. In several countries health insurance or national health services pay part of the cost, and the rules differ widely between countries.

What is missing from Europe

US-owned brands compete in the European market too, and they are not listed here. The choice among large European makers is limited to a handful of groups, so independent family companies such as ABENA are the exception rather than the rule.
