They answer questions, draft and translate text, summarise documents and help with code, much like ChatGPT. Four are listed here: Mistral Vibe (formerly Le Chat) from Paris, Euria from Infomaniak and Lumo from Proton, both Swiss, and Ecosia AI Chat from Berlin. The criterion on this site is the headquarters of the company behind the product, not the origin of the model or the server location. Of the four assistants only Mistral develops its own language models. Euria and Lumo run open-source models on European infrastructure, and Ecosia AI Chat forwards requests to Mistral. European assistants do not match ChatGPT in every function. Euria and Lumo are leaner, free plans are limited by quotas, and answers from any chatbot can be wrong. Customer-facing bots for websites are a separate category: European customer service chatbots.
