Submit SuggestionEuropean racket sports brands make rackets, strings, balls, shoes and clothing for tennis, padel, squash, badminton and pickleball. The five companies listed here are headquartered in France, Austria and Spain: a string maker founded in Lyon in 1875, an Austrian sports group, a French string and racket specialist and two padel brands from Madrid and Barcelona.
| Brand | Country | Known for |
|---|---|---|
| Babolat | France | Strings since 1875, tennis rackets such as the Pure Drive, padel and badminton rackets |
| HEAD | Austria | Tennis, padel, squash and pickleball rackets, plus skis and diving gear |
| Tecnifibre | France | Strings and rackets for tennis, squash and padel |
| Bullpadel | Spain | Padel only, textile supplier of the Premier Padel tour |
| NOX | Spain | Padel rackets, founded in Barcelona in 2008 |
Strings are where European brands have the longest record. Babolat made the first natural gut tennis string and launched its first tennis frames in 1994, and Tecnifibre sold its first "Made in France" strings in 1983. HEAD was founded around the first metal ski in 1950 and today covers tennis, padel, squash and pickleball next to winter sports and diving.
Padel is the part of the market where Spanish brands lead. Bullpadel, founded in 1995, has supplied the textile for the Premier Padel tour since 2023, and NOX says it distributes more than 400,000 rackets a year in over 80 countries. Babolat, HEAD and Tecnifibre also make padel rackets.
A large part of the tennis and badminton market belongs to brands from outside Europe: Wilson is American and Yonex is Japanese, and neither is listed here. Badminton specialists from Europe are not included yet. Two of the listed brands have owners outside their home country: Tecnifibre belongs to the Swiss group Maus Frères via Lacoste Holding, and NOX has been backed by the investor Oakley Capital since 2025, both European. When you compare rackets, weight, balance and string pattern matter more than the logo, so try a demo racket before buying.
