Many of the names belong to a few large groups, so the owner behind the brand matters more than the name on the door. If you are looking for European fridge brands, the overview below shows who owns which.
Who owns the European refrigerator brands?
- BSH (Bosch Group, Munich): Bosch, Siemens, Neff and Balay. BSH has been wholly owned by the Bosch Group since 2015 and builds Siemens appliances under licence.[1] Balay and Neff are BSH brands.[2][3]
- Electrolux (Stockholm): Electrolux and AEG. Electrolux owns the AEG trademark rights for household products.[4][5]
- Arçelik / Beko (Turkey): Beko, Grundig and Arctic are among its brands.[6] Grundig appliances are sold in Germany by Beko Germany.[7] Bauknecht is run within Beko Europe, which is 75 % Arçelik and 25 % Whirlpool.[8]
- Vestel (Turkey): Vestel is controlled by Zorlu Holding,[9] and Finlux is a brand of the Turkish manufacturer Vestel.[10]
- Independent: Miele is owned by the Miele and Zinkann families,[11] Liebherr by the Liebherr family,[12] and V-ZUG is listed on the stock exchange without a controlling shareholder.[13]
- Non-European parent flag: Russell Hobbs belongs to Spectrum Brands of the USA,[14] and Gorenje is part of the Chinese Hisense group.[15] Etna is part of the Hisense Europe group as well.[16]
Amica, Cecotec, Smeg and Becken complete the list. The page is a selection of brands, not a ranking, and it does not compare the models of individual makers.
