Arduino

Website

Arduino is an open-source hardware and software company from Turin, Italy, known for its microcontroller boards and the Arduino IDE. Arduino has had a global community of makers, students and engineers for years, and Qualcomm says more than 33 million active users. In October 2025 Qualcomm announced the acquisition of Arduino, and Arduino now describes itself as part of the Qualcomm family.

Features

  • Open-source hardware: board designs are published so that others can build on them
  • Microcontroller boards in many form factors and the Arduino IDE for programming
  • Arduino UNO Q, a single-board computer with a Qualcomm Dragonwing processor and a separate microcontroller
  • Arduino Cloud and App Lab for connected projects

Good to know

Qualcomm states that Arduino keeps its independent brand, tools and mission and continues to support microcontrollers and microprocessors from several semiconductor providers. Because the parent company is American, this page carries a note about a non-European parent. Arduino itself stays headquartered in Italy.
