Website

BRITA is a German water filter brand from Taunusstein in Hesse. In 1966 Heinz Hankammer made the first water filters under a pear tree in his garden, and from the start the business was a family company. BRITA introduced its first table water filter in 1970 and soon developed refill cartridges, which it had patented.

Range

  • Filter jugs and cartridges for tap water
  • Filter bottles for on the go
  • Tap water dispensers for offices and catering
  • Filters for coffee machines and for professional use

Good to know

BRITA became a synonym for table water filters in Germany. In 1992 the company was the first in its industry to start recycling filter cartridges. A BRITA filter reduces limescale and certain substances such as chlorine in the taste and appearance of tap water, but it is not designed to turn untreated water into drinking water. Filter jugs need regular cartridge changes and cleaning to stay hygienic.
