Camunda

Website

Camunda is a process orchestration platform from Berlin. Jakob Freund and Bernd Rücker founded Camunda Services GmbH in 2008, and the company is known as the author of the book Real-Life BPMN. Camunda says it is trusted by more than 750 enterprises and supported by a developer community of over 100,000 people. Named customers on its site include Deutsche Telekom, Lufthansa and ING.

Features

  • Modelling of business processes with the open BPMN and DMN standards
  • An orchestration engine that coordinates people, services, APIs, bots and AI agents in one process
  • Camunda-hosted SaaS or self-managed operation
  • Tools to design, orchestrate and improve processes over their whole life

Licence and limits

Camunda 8 is source-available under the Camunda License: it is free for development, and production use needs a paid subscription. The older Camunda 7 line was open source under the Apache License 2.0. Camunda is a developer tool and not a drag-and-drop connector service like Make, so it suits teams with engineering capacity.
