Çaykur
WebsiteÇaykur is the Turkish state tea company, formally Çay İşletmeleri Genel Müdürlüğü, with its head office in Rize on the Black Sea coast. The first state tea factory opened in Rize in 1947 with a capacity of 60 tonnes a day. In 1973 the tea institution started work as an independent state economic enterprise, and a decree of 10 October 1983 turned it into Çay-Kur under law no. 2929.
Range
- Black tea from the Rize region, Turkey's main tea growing area
- Tea processing in state-run factories, the first of which opened in Rize in 1947
- Packaged tea for Turkish households under the Çaykur brand
Ownership
Çaykur is wholly state-owned, which is unusual among the tea brands on this site. The Turkish state is its only owner, so there is no non-European parent flag. Turkey is counted as a European country on this site for company headquarters.
