Website

Cristel is a French cookware maker based in Fesches-le-Châtel in the Doubs department. The factory traces its history to 1826, when the Japy brothers made the first stamped saucepan there. The company has been owned by the Dodane family since 1987 and says it is approaching its 200th anniversary.

Products

  • Stainless steel saucepans, pots and pans
  • Removable handle systems for cookware
  • Made in France, in the original factory in Doubs

Cristel is covered in French press such as Les Echos, BFM Business, Le Monde and TF1. See other pan and pot makers in the cookware category.

Good to know

Cristel's best-known idea is the pan with a detachable handle, which lets the same pot go from hob to oven to table and takes less space in a cupboard. The company went through insolvency proceedings before the Dodane family took it over in 1987, and the story is often told in French business media as a recovery of a historic French factory. Production still takes place in Fesches-le-Châtel.
