DeFacto

DeFacto is a Turkish fashion retailer headquartered in Istanbul. It was founded in 2003 by Zeki Cemal Özen, the owner of the textile group Ozan Tekstil, and went public on Borsa Istanbul in 2018.

Company

The retailer operates close to 500 stores and sells in dozens of countries across Europe, the Middle East and beyond, including entries in markets such as Bulgaria, Serbia and Bahrain. The EBRD took an equity stake in the company.

Ownership and expansion

At the 2018 offering the founder Zeki Cemal Özen held about 66.5 percent and CEO İhsan Ateş about 13.7 percent, according to press reports of the time. Current holdings may differ. The retailer has opened stores abroad, for example in a Sofia shopping centre in Bulgaria and at Seef Mall in Bahrain, and its online shop serves many more countries.
