Eres

Eres is a Paris fashion house that makes high-end swimwear, lingerie and activewear. It was founded in 1968 and is known for plain, architectural swimsuits with a precise fit. The name goes back to a Paris boutique of the 1920s that sold bathing suits. Since 1996 Eres has been owned by Chanel.

Ownership and positioning

Chanel bought Eres in 1996 according to Business of Fashion. Chanel is a European group, so no non-European parent applies. Eres sells in the luxury segment, and a swimsuit costs far more than at sports or fashion chains. The range is also narrower than at brands that cover training, beach and fashion swimwear at once.
