European swimwear brands include Olympic suppliers and fashion houses. This page lists six specialists with a headquarters in Europe: Speedo from the UK, arena from Italy, the French houses Eres and Vilebrequin, the British label Orlebar Brown and Maryan Mehlhorn from Germany. Fashion and sports brands with swimwear ranges are added further down.

Who owns the swimwear brands?

Speedo belongs to the British Pentland Group, arena to the Swiss investor Capvis, and Eres and Orlebar Brown to Chanel. Vilebrequin, based in Geneva, has been owned by the American group G-III Apparel since 2012, so it carries the non-European parent flag. Maryan Mehlhorn is run from Murg in southern Germany.

Sports and fashion brands with swimwear

Several brands listed elsewhere also sell swimwear: Calzedonia, Adidas, Puma, Decathlon with its Nabaiji swimming brand, and Primark. The specialist brands above fit buyers who want performance suits or a luxury label, the broader brands suit everyday pool and beach use.

Racing suits or beachwear?

Speedo (Fastskin) and arena (Powerskin) develop racing suits for competitions, and arena reports that its Powerskin ST Next was the first World Aquatics approved racing suit made from recycled fibres. Eres, Orlebar Brown and Vilebrequin are fashion labels for beach and resort and are priced well above sports brands. Owner and headquarters of every brand are documented on its product page.
