Vilebrequin

Website

Vilebrequin is a luxury swimwear brand that was created in 1971 in Saint-Tropez by Fred Prysquel, a photographer and motoring journalist. The name is the French word for crankshaft. The brand became known for men's swim trunks that are longer than the fitted styles of that time, made from light, quick-drying fabric. The company is headquartered in Geneva.

Range

  • Men's swim trunks in many prints, with matching boys' styles since 1994
  • A women's line and resort wear, added from 2013
  • Beach accessories for men and women

Ownership

Since 2012 Vilebrequin has belonged to the American group G-III Apparel, which also holds licenses for Calvin Klein, DKNY and Karl Lagerfeld. The brand is therefore marked as having a non-European parent, although design and headquarters remain in Europe. Prices are in the luxury segment.
