Adidas is a German sporting goods company headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria.[1] Adi Dassler registered the company on 18 August 1949 with 47 employees. The brothers' earlier shoe factory, Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik, dated from 1924.[2] The three stripes have been the trademark since 1949.[1]

Products

Adidas sells sports footwear, clothing and accessories. Fragrance and personal care products carrying the adidas name are made by Coty under a long-term licence agreement, which Coty renewed. A licence is not ownership: Coty is a partner for these product lines and not the parent company of adidas.[3][1]

What to check when buying

The headquarters and the company are German, but the shoes and clothes themselves are not necessarily made in Europe, and licensed products such as personal care items come from a licence partner. If country of origin or the producer matters to you, check the label of the individual product.
