Irn-Bru

Website

Irn-Bru is a Scottish soft drink made by A.G. Barr plc. Two Barr businesses launched it together on 15 April 1901 under the name Iron Brew, and the label showed the Highland athlete Adam Brown. In 1947 the name changed to the phonetic spelling Irn-Bru, because new labelling rules required brand names to be literally true. The company describes it as the soft drink choice of the Scottish nation.

Range

  • Irn-Bru and a low-calorie variant, available in cans and glass and plastic bottles
  • Irn-Bru 1901, made to a recipe from a handwritten book in the company archive
  • Other brands of the same company: Rubicon, Funkin, Boost and, since 2026, Fentimans
