Le Coq Sportif

Website

Le Coq Sportif is a French sportswear brand, founded in 1882 in Romilly-sur-Seine by the master hatter Émile Camuset and one of the very first sports brands. It was the kit supplier for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and has dressed athletes and teams for more than 140 years. In November 2024 the brand entered receivership. In July 2025 a group led by the Franco-Swiss entrepreneur Dan Mamane bought it, and Alexandre Fauvet became chief executive.

Features

  • Sports clothing and footwear with a heritage in French sport, from football and tennis to rugby and the Olympic Games.
  • A partnership with the French Rugby Federation (FFR) before the sale.
  • A heritage page that presents the brand as the "first sports couturier" and lists athletes who wore it, from Maradona and Cruyff to Noah and Ashe.

Ownership and limits

Until 2024 the brand belonged to the Swiss private equity firm Airesis, which had bought it in 2006. The new owners are Franco-Swiss and the brand remains French, so no non-European parent flag applies. After the restructuring the company is rebuilding, so range and distribution can change.
