Linn

Linn is a Scottish hi-fi manufacturer from the Glasgow area. Ivor Tiefenbrun founded it in Glasgow to build the Sondek LP12 turntable. Today its factory sits between Waterfoot and Eaglesham in East Renfrewshire, and each system is built by hand and carries the name of the engineer who made it. Gilad Tiefenbrun, the founder's son, has led the company as managing director since 1993.

Range

• Network music players that combine streamer, preamplifier and DAC: Klimax DSM, Selekt DSM, Akurate DSM and the entry-level Majik DSM.
• Separate power amplifiers, loudspeakers and the Sondek LP12 turntable.
• Linn brought out the Klimax DS in 2007 and describes it as an early network music player for studio-master files.
• The newer players use Linn's own Organik DAC architecture.

Where it fits

Linn builds complete systems around its own network players, amplifiers and speakers. It is a high-end brand, so models are priced accordingly.
