Lowa
WebsiteLowa is a German maker of mountain, trekking and hiking boots based in Jetzendorf in Upper Bavaria. Lorenz Wagner, the son of a local shoemaker, founded the company there in 1923, and the name comes from his first and last name. Since 1993 Lowa has been part of the Italian Tecnica Group, which also owns Nordica, Rollerblade, Blizzard and Moon Boot. Jetzendorf remains the location for Lowa's mountain and trekking boots.
Features
- Mountaineering, trekking, hiking, light hiking, leisure, trail running and winter shoes for men, women and children.
- LOWA Professional, a line of work and duty boots.
- A tool on the website for finding the right shoe.
- Ski boot production was moved to Tecnica in Italy after the takeover and ended in 2008, so the company concentrates on mountain footwear.
Ownership
Tecnica is an Italian group with family roots (the Zanatta family), so the listing carries no non-European parent flag. Lowa is a footwear specialist: it sells boots and shoes, not clothing or equipment.
