MediaMarkt is a German consumer electronics retailer founded in 1979. The brand belongs to Ceconomy, whose subsidiary Media-Saturn is based in Ingolstadt. MediaMarkt operates stores in many European countries and has run online shops since 2012, so it is listed here for its large online business.

Ownership

In July 2025 the Chinese group JD.com announced a takeover offer for Ceconomy. After the offer period JD.com had secured 59.8 percent of the shares. Closing depends on regulatory approvals, including a review under the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation with a decision due by 4 November 2026. The company is therefore marked as having a non-European parent. MediaMarkt remains a store chain with a large online shop, so the range of services depends on the country.
