NoMachine

Website

NoMachine is a remote desktop software from NoMachine S.à r.l., headquartered in Luxembourg, with research and development centres in Italy, Poland and Georgia and representative offices in the United States and Germany. It grew out of the NX technology created in 2003 to make the X Window System usable over slow connections. The software is proprietary, and the company states that thousands of customers, including Fortune 500 companies, government groups and universities, use it.

Features

  • Remote desktop for Windows, macOS, Linux (including Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat and Fedora), ARM devices such as the Raspberry Pi, Android and iOS.
  • A free edition for personal use, plus Enterprise Desktop, Terminal Server and Cloud Server products for organisations.
  • Terminal and cloud server editions that deliver Linux virtual desktops to many users.

Limits

NoMachine's focus is access to personal workstations and virtual desktops, with particular strength in Linux environments. Its server editions are aimed at administrators, and it is positioned around remote access rather than around support sessions with customers.
