Plausible Analytics
WebsitePlausible Analytics is a web analytics tool from Plausible Insights OÜ in Tartu, Estonia. Uku Täht started it in December 2018 as a simple alternative to Google Analytics, and the company describes itself as self-funded and profitable. According to its own figures, more than 21,000 customers pay for it. The source code is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence.
Features
- One-page dashboard with visitors, traffic sources, pages, countries and devices
- Goals, funnels, revenue tracking, custom properties and scroll depth
- Shared dashboards, email reports and a Google Search Console integration
- Import of Google Analytics statistics
- Lightweight script; according to the provider no cookies and no personal data are collected
Hosting and pricing
The managed cloud service is paid and starts with a 30-day trial. The provider states that site data is processed on servers in Germany run by European companies. The free Community Edition can be self-hosted, but it leaves out funnels, user journeys, ecommerce revenue goals, SSO and the sites API.
Plausible deliberately stays simple. Anyone who needs custom report builders or detailed audience analysis will find fewer options than in Google Analytics or Matomo.
