Bitstamp
WebsiteBitstamp is a crypto exchange with its registered headquarters in Luxembourg and an office in Ljubljana. Nejc Kodrič and Damijan Merlak founded it in 2011, and it describes itself as the world's longest-standing crypto exchange. On 2 June 2025 the US company Robinhood closed its acquisition of Bitstamp, so the exchange now runs as Bitstamp by Robinhood.
Features
- About 170 crypto assets for trading
- FIX, HTTP and WebSocket APIs for professional and algorithmic traders
- Institutional services with institutional-grade security
- Licences in several markets, including a Singapore licence and a MiFID trading venue licence
Good to know
Bitstamp is a European company, but since 2025 it belongs to the American Robinhood Markets. That is why it carries the flag for a non-European parent. Fees depend on the trading volume, and crypto assets can lose their whole value.
