Dedeman

Dedeman is a Romanian DIY and building materials chain. Two Romanian entrepreneurs started it in Bacău in 1992 with an 11-person team. Today it is one of the best known retail names in Romania.

Range

• Building materials, interior fittings, furniture, tiles, garden, sanitary ware, heating and electrical products
• An online shop next to the stores

Where to find it

The company's own history page lists 64 stores in Romania (October 2026). The 60th store opened in 2023. In 2021 the company reported that 70 percent of its stores had solar panels. Employee numbers passed 10,000 over time. Dedeman trades only in Romania and does not run stores in other countries, so shoppers elsewhere in Europe will not find it. On its history page the company states that it became the market leader in DIY by turnover.

Ownership

Dedeman is a privately held Romanian company that describes itself as the business of two Romanian entrepreneurs. There is no foreign parent.
