GOG
WebsiteGOG (formerly Good Old Games) is a digital game store based in Warsaw, Poland. It was launched in 2008 by the game company CD Projekt to make older PC games available again on modern systems. Its guiding idea is that games are sold free of digital rights management (DRM), and since 2012 the store also sells new releases. In December 2025 CD Projekt sold GOG to its co-founder Michał Kiciński, who bought 100 percent of the shares for 90.7 million Polish zloty. GOG is now independent of CD Projekt.
Features
- DRM-free installers that can be kept, backed up and installed without an account.
- GOG Galaxy, an optional client that bundles libraries from several stores, with achievements, friends and cloud saves.
- Catalogue of classics, indie games and many new releases, plus movies and bundles.
- Mix of old and new titles with regular price promotions.
Limits
Not every game is available, because some publishers do not allow DRM-free sale. Multiplayer titles often rely on the publisher's own services, and the community features are smaller than those of Steam.
