Mammut
WebsiteMammut is a Swiss mountain sports company headquartered in Seon in the canton of Aargau. Its roots go back to 1862, when Kaspar Tanner started a rope business in Dintikon. Products were sold under the Mammut name from 1952, with a focus on ropes for mountaineering and sailing, and the company has been called Mammut Sports Group AG since 2003. It celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2022.
Features
- Clothing (jackets, vests, tops, trousers), footwear (hiking, mountaineering, trail running and approach shoes) and equipment (backpacks, avalanche equipment, climbing equipment, sleeping bags).
- Products sorted by activity: hiking, climbing, mountaineering, snowsports, trail running and travel.
- Repair and care service, the Mammut Mountain School Switzerland and an insulation made from 100 % recycled material, half of it from rope offcuts.
Ownership
Until 2021 Mammut belonged to the Swiss industrial group Conzzeta. In September 2021 the change of ownership to the investment company Telemos Capital was completed, as announced in a press release by the company at the time. Mammut is therefore owned by a financial investor, not by a family. Telemos is a European investment firm and a predecessor company of Jacobs Capital (Jacobs Holding AG, Zurich), so no non-European parent applies.
