Nord Keyboards

Nord is the brand of Clavia Digital Musical Instruments AB, a Swedish company from Stockholm. It was founded in 1983 by Hans Nordelius and Mikael Carlsson, first with digital drum pads. Since the Nord Lead in 1995, its keyboards have carried the Nord name and the characteristic red finish. Nord instruments are handmade in Sweden.

Instruments

• Synthesizers: the Nord Lead virtual analog line (today Nord Lead A1) and the Nord Wave 2.
• Stage keyboards: Nord Stage 4, Nord Piano 6 and Nord Grand 2.
• Electro and organ models: Nord Electro 7 and Nord Organ 3.
• History: the Nord Modular of 1997 was an early virtual analog modular synthesizer.

Where it fits

Nord is as much a stage-piano and organ brand as a synthesizer maker. Touring keyboard players use the instruments, and the company concentrates on a small number of hardware lines rather than software.
